Finance, Accounting & Bookkeeping – In-Depth Expertise in Plant Engineering

Autarkize develops modular plant solutions for the recycling of biomass residues. Our technology is innovative, efficient - and ready for the market. It not only helps to protect the climate, but also offers our customers an economically highly attractive solution to real problems.

We’re looking for someone to take charge of all our financial matters: you’ll independently build out our finance department, gradually bring accounting in-house, and develop an integrated financial planning system that truly reflects our business model. If you’re deeply versed in balance sheets, annual financial statements, and capital projects, and you’re eager to shape a department from the ground up rather than just manage it—then we should talk.

Your tasks

Finance & Accounting

  • Overall Responsibility for Finance: You will be responsible for Autarkize entire finance department Autarkize working independently, taking a hands-on approach, and striving to build a solid, sustainable foundation for the department.
  • Balance Sheets & Annual Financial Statements: You have an in-depth understanding of accounting (HGB), assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements, and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for the audit team—particularly regarding accounting issues related to plant construction (e.g., capitalized in-house work, asset valuation).
  • Auditing: You’ll prepare for audits, present well-reasoned arguments to auditors, and ensure that our financial figures stand up to any audit.

Bring Accounting In-House

  • Setting Up In-House Accounting: We currently use Excel and DATEV Unternehmen online, and we plan to bring our accounting in-house by the end of the year. You’ll oversee this transition and set up the internal processes.
  • Roll up your sleeves: During the introductory phase, you’ll also handle the bookkeeping yourself as needed—you’re not just a coordinator, but you’ll roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Controlling & Business

  • Thinking Strategically About Controlling: Controlling is currently seen as a secondary concern . It’s important to us that you aren’t just a “box-ticking accountant with blinders on,” but rather that you structure the finance department in a way that brings real value to the entire company and our investors.
  • Reporting & Management: You will gradually establish a robust reporting system, keep track of key metrics, and lay the groundwork for data-driven decisions.
  • Project Controlling: You will monitor plant construction projects with seven-figure budgets and help manage their financial aspects.
  • Product Costing: You’ll develop a robust product costing system—as the foundation for pricing, margin management, and well-informed decisions regarding proposals and investments.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Solid qualifications in finance and accounting—whether through a college degree (e.g., business administration, business informatics), a business apprenticeship followed by further training (e.g., certified accountant), or relevant professional experience. What matters most is what you can do—not your degree.
  • Several years of experience in finance and accounting, ideally in the plant or mechanical engineering industry
  • A deep understanding of finance, accounting, financial statements, and auditing—you really know the subject matter, not just the basics
  • Proficiency in using DATEV and Excel; willingness to handle the bookkeeping yourself during the startup phase
  • Experience in establishing structures and processes—you enjoy creating something new rather than simply maintaining the status quo
  • High digital affinity and enjoy building and developing tools independently
  • A hands-on approach and a desire to take on responsibility as a one-person show in a dynamic startup
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and enjoy working closely with management

What's not part of your responsibilities: We already handle communication with investors and financing matters.

What we offer

  • A highly motivated, cordial team with a real spirit of optimism - we don't just write it, we live it.
  • A dynamic startup with a meaningful mission: the energy transition through a circular economy.
  • Technology with real impact - and pilot customers: The market is ready for us!
  • Freedom and responsibility - you not only design, you are a decisive part of the success!
  • An interdisciplinary, motivated team at eye level
  • Flexible working, clear values, and real prospects

Work Location:Remote or hybrid (87640 Biessenhofen or flexible within the DACH region)

Our revolutionary technology is finally on the market—and interest is huge. Autarkize develops modular pyrolysis plants for the recovery of biomass residues, and potential customers are clamoring for them. Leads are turning into projects, and discussions are turning into actual investment decisions.

What we need right now is you: a strong sales professional who understands how innovation truly reaches the market—not through endless product development, but through close customer contact, honest communication, and genuine partnership. You close deals—with structure, clarity, and a genuine understanding of our customers.

Customer satisfaction is our top priority

At Autarkize , closing a deal Autarkize an end in itself. Our most important goal is: delighted customers.
For the sales team, this means, in concrete terms: You don’t just turn leads into contracts—you turn them into satisfied, convinced customers who feel well-advised, make a sound business decision, and have long-term trust in our solution.
After all, our systems aren’t a “quick buy”—they’re a major project involving investments, financing, loans, collateral, and responsibility. That’s exactly why we need someone who can close deals—but who’s just as skilled at guiding customers smoothly through the decision-making process.

Your tasks:
  • Qualify instead of just making phone calls: You analyze how serious the customer's interest really is - and bring structure to a broad, heterogeneous lead list
  • Develop & manage the customer journey: You define how our leads become customers - with clear steps, materials, and commitment
  • Develop Business cases: You calculate investment calculations for individual scenarios and understand how attractive our system is economically
  • Understanding & Implementing Financing Models: You’ll be involved in financing from the very beginning and will develop models in collaboration with our partners (leasing, rent-to-own, banks)
  • Build up sales partners and networks: You identify suitable structures and help to shape our sales ecosystem
  • Live technical understanding: You don't have to be an engineer - but you understand what our technology can do, categorize customer questions, and implement them together with our engineers

What you bring with you:

· At least 5–7 years of experience in technical B2B sales

· At least a basic understanding of energy engineering or the energy industry

· Demonstrable success in selling capital goods in the at least 6-digit range (preferably higher)

· Experience in prototype and early-stage sales: customized solutions rather than standard products, technical dependencies, longer decision-making cycles, and Business

· Closing skills & ownership: You actively drive the next steps and the closing

· At the same time, a strong focus on the customer: you don't just want to make sales; you want to build long-term relationships with customers

· Organizational skills and project understanding: You can help guide complex decisions

· Startup mindset: You’re used to working in a dynamic environment where not everything is set in stone—and you see this as creative freedom, not a limitation. You bring structure where none exists and remain reliable as projects evolve.

Ideally:

· Practical CRM experience (e.g., HubSpot)

· Knowledge of finance, leasing, or project financing

· Expertise in the fields of “thermal utilization of biomass,” “combustion technology,” or “industrial thermal engineering”

What we offer:
  • A highly motivated, cordial team with a real spirit of optimism - we don't just write it, we live it.
  • A dynamic start-up with a meaningful mission: energy transition through the circular economy.

What should your application include?
